Positive
Behavior Support
Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a comprehensive and
innovative approach to helping adults and young people achieve their
goals in whatever education, habilitation, or treatment environment
they are in. PBS employs the concepts and methods of applied behavior
analysis within an overall person-centered framework.
 |
Positive Behavior
Supports proceed from the premise that all behavior, no matter how
strange or apparently maladaptive, is functional for the individual
engaging in it. That is, it meets a need. With this understanding
as a foundation, the goal of PBS is to identify and create supports
for people, not to manage them or modify their behavior. Support
may come in the form of identifying new resources, altering features
of the environment or instructional method, providing accommodations,
or supporting the development of new skills. |
Therapeutic Options, Inc. offers training and on-site consultation
to schools, hospitals, habilitation centers, and residential facilities

Therapeutic Options, Inc. helps facilities assess and establish
the administrative, clinical, and staff development structure necessary
to successfully implement Positive Behavior Supports, and provides
onsite training and technical assistance in conducting initial lines
of inquiry, writing support plans, conducting functional assessments
of behavior, observation skills, data collection and analysis, team
collaboration, and person-centered planning.
